South Caicos last week was windy, windy, windy! We have 25 knot winds for most of Tuesday so no diving. Slightly less wind on Wednesday so we got a couple dives in, but it was bumpy! We tried to get round to the east side of the island on Thursday but it was a no go, so we stayed on the west side for another dive.

No diving doesn't mean no work. We had specimens from Grand Turk that still needed photographed, outreach to plan, reports to write, and sleep to catch up on!

The rubble sites were good. Very shallow but with a nice amount of rubble. Some of the sites had more conch shells than rubble, but they are still interesting to survey. The weather made the diving…interesting! When the wind is strong and the water is shallow there is so much surge that staying still to take photos or collect rubble is really challenging. And very tiring! I wonder how many calories you burn diving in those conditions? I’m really only interested so I know how man extra cookies I can eat 😂
